earthquake!!!

yeah, so there was a pretty decent sized earthquake here today. right before lunch…..as i was at work. it was probably the biggest one i’ve been in so far. nothing really bad happened here…..just scared the shit out of people. i’ll have to see what kinda mess i have at home though, as it’s a lot closer to the epicenter.

it’s really kinda surreal. i mean, the whole experience of an earthquake. that video does a good job of just showing ppl’s natural reactions to it though. at first it’s like, “omg….WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!”….then it turns into a fear, like the next 30 secs (that feel like 2 hours) of your life could be your last…..and then, finally the ground stops moving….and all anyone can do is jabber like abuncha bumbling idiots.

ps. i also changed the email subscribtion a bit too, so i am also still just seeing if that’s working correctly. i think i have it all switched out to what i want now though.

it’s pretty chilly here. just had to rub it in to those back east.

of course with the brewers and mets currently playing….and the yankees and bosox coming up next, it’s not like i am gonna leave my cave or anything. but it’s still pretty ridiculous that we are already into the 90’s. not sure if i am ready for this crap already.

a freakin’ tornado?

apparently there is a tornado warning for certain parts of southern california tonight. wtf?

i thought we just had earthquakes and fires!

needless to say, it’s been raining like all week. on and off granted, but it’s suppose to continue on through the weekend. which is always fun, cause ppl can’t drive period here….but add in some rain? yikes. it’s nice to have this “winter storm” though. no football or anything….so it’ll be a good chance to maybe catch up on some of the other oscar movies too.

speaking of which, i watched juno last night. the movie is freakin’ hilarious. check it out if you get a chance.

i’m on fire!

well, no….not really. but it seems like everything else is in southern california.

seriously, i am fine, but since there are 14 different fires burning down here, it’s not exactly comfy to breathe anything. plus, they have said the fire is moving and spreading a mile an hour. all i’ve smelled for the last 2 days was campfire. i thought i’d at least get a break by cruising down to work and the beach today…..but no. it’s so bad that even there it was nothing but smoke in the air. i think what’s killing (at least my area), is this fire out in the irvine hills. which is about 15-20 miles from me.

best part about that? was started by arson. california morons. i hope they catch and fry the fuckers.

it’s nuts all over though. 250,000 people have been evacuated from san diego alone. my boss left at noon today cause they were starting to evacuate his neighborhood in irvine……and well, all these movie star homes are in trouble in malibu…..but screw them. they should know better than to build a 10 million dollar home in fire valley.

but….just to give ya an idea. last night my power got knocked out, cause along with this crap, are rolling blackouts. i woke up to a bathtub full of dirt and ash from the wind blowing it through my window. my car? was covered in the same kinda soot.

by far though, the weirdest thing about this….is the daylight turns from a bright yellow….to a dark orange. almost to the point where it’s surreal. the sun tries to push through the smoke, but just can’t cause it’s so thick. thick like everywhere here!

and then there are the winds and the 90 degree temperatures. added on to that, the 5% humidity. which just makes things gross minus the smoke. chapped lips, dry skin, and just a constant nose of snot cause it was 70 degrees for the last 3 weeks.

ugh…..beautiful california.

YAY!

pifft. like it matters to me. that’s the thing that sucks about not working a consistent thing. all the days seem to run into one another. i guess, i have others around me to remind me that it’s tuesday and how long till the weekend. either way….it’s kinda a drag when it’s the weekend and all that means is the business world is shutdown for 2 days.

i have an interview this afternoon though. i am actually pretty excited about it cause the job is dealing with photos, but not necessarily in a web environment. not to mention, it’s like right on the beach. so…if this works out, i may just have to move closer to the beach when my lease is up next year. it’s not that far now, but holy crap would i love to be able to bike to work again. here? trying to bike anywhere is just asking to become roadkill. kinda sucks.

i should add, it’s not like i am big on the beach. i mean, shoot, you couldn’t pay me to get in the gross polluted california water. it’s a little cooler there though, so that’s always nice come the middle of july. it’s pretty much been seasonally perfect here anyways, so i really don’t know what it matters. I mean, can’t really complain about sunny and 80-85 everyday.

I dunno….we’ll see how this pans out.
